The purpose of this advance is to assist refugees and internally displaced on a worldwide basis and responding to their needs as they arise.

Once a refugee crisis has occurred, it may be many years before the situation is stable enough to permit a safe return home. Internally displaced persons (IDPs) may often be in as desperate need for programmatic support. This Advance provides assistance for UMCOR-implemented and supported projects dealing with refugees and internally displaced people. Such projects give hope to displaced people whose lives otherwise appear to be at standstill.
